Gamesquare Acquires Complexity Gaming

Complexity announced on its official website that it has joined the cybersports company GameSquare. The parties did not disclose the amount of the deal, but according to the reputable business publication Forbes, it is estimated at $27 million.

Eight Complexity rosters, including the CS:GO lineup, will continue to compete in various disciplines under their former name. All of them will receive significant investments for further development.

GameSquare’s capabilities in content creation, merchandising, sales, marketing, and branding will complement Complexity’s storied legacy in the space, unparalleled industry know-how, and expertise in scouting organic gaming talent, recruiting players, and molding them into premier esports athletes. With decades of experience at the intersection of esports, entertainment, and traditional sports, the resulting entity will create operational efficiencies that will power the best esports experiences for teams, players, brands, and fans.

Complexity CEO Jason Lake will reportedly keep his current position. He will also join GameSquare's management team, where he will take over as head of esports.

GameSquare specializes in investing in the esports industry. In addition to Complexity, the company owns Code Red Esports, as well as minority ownership in China's LGD mobile game team Crossfire and Mexican League of Legends team R7.
